If there is one closet staple that is always in season, it’s a denim jacket. They have been in style for as long as I have been alive, and even longer than that, and I have been wearing them my entire life. A denim jacket is a great addition to any outfit and they literally match anything. If I looked in my closet, I honestly think I have over 5 jackets and if I include denim vests, there is another 3. If you follow me on Instagram, you know I am a huge Levi’s fan and own several Levi’s Denim Jackets.
In my opinion, a good denim jacket is totally worth the splurge because they are always in style. You can easily keep the same jacket in your closet for ten years and it will still always in style. Plus you can pair one with pretty much anything.
THE CLASSIC DENIM JACKET
If you’re looking for that perfect, traditional, match everything denim jacket, here are some of my favorites. You honestly can’t go wrong with this closet staple.
DENIM JACKETS WITH ADDED FLAIR
If you are looking for a denim jacket with a little extra flair, like my sequined Levi’s one, check out the ones below. Embroidery, sequins, rhinestones, and distressed rips are just a few different styles you can find.
HEAVY-DUTY DENIM JACKETS
These denim jackets are perfect if you live in a place where it actually gets cold and you need something that can keep you warm. The most common kinds of variations of this jacket I see for cold weather are lined with sherpa. If I didn’t live in Florida, I would literally be all over that cheetah print sherpa-lined Levi’s denim jacket.
WHITE DENIM JACKETS
Other than the traditional blue jean jackets that I have, I have a white denim jacket. I usually only wear this color in the springtime but if my jeans and denim jacket clash, since they are both blue, I’ll wear my white one. White denim jackets are still classic and can be paired with pretty much anything.
IF YOU DON’T WANT TO BUY A NEW DENIM JACKET
Don’t worry, there are tons of different ways you can refresh an old jacket! Here are some things you can do to give an old denim jacket a fresh new look:
- Jazz it up with some added flair. Enamel pins and patches are the easiest way to refresh an old jacket but if you’re an experienced DIYer looking for something a little more challenging, sew some beads, lace, studs, sequins, or pearls on the sleeves or pockets
- If you have a lighter jacket, try dying it a different color or a few different colors
- Give it a distressed look by fraying the ends with sandpaper and adding a few rips and tears to it
- Splatter some acrylic paint on it for an artsy and edgy look
- If you know how to hand sew, sew something cool across the back or on one of the pockets. It could be a shape like a heart or a phrase like #girlboss
