Happy August! Before sharing the August 2023 backgrounds and wallpapers, my usual life update. I went to my retreat in early July and I am soooo happy I went. I was debating even going up until the week before because I knew I was going to have to lean into a lot of things I have been avoiding and the thought of doing that was honestly nauseating. I’m still in the 90 day integration phase of the program but I genuinely believe this retreat will have an incredibly positive impact to my life and really change the trajectory. I’m working on doing a more in depth blog post on my experience and things I have done, post program that have been helpful for me, and this more authentic life I want to live. Hopefully I will be able to share that in the next month or so.

Now here are five things that I am loving at the moment…
- The Book of Boundaries by Melissa Urban. This book is amazing if you are trying to set better boundaries in your life and honestly, it’s also great to better understand how to respect other people’s boundaries. There are tons of examples in the book for all different kinds of situations. The author is also one of the co-founders of the Whole 30 (you can read about my experience on Whole 30 here).
- Braun IPL Laser Removal. This thing has been an absolute game changer for me, especially during the summer. Not going to lie, you have to use it like twice a week when you first start using it but now I use it once every few weeks for touch-ups and RARELY shave anything.
- Bumble and Bumble Post Workout Hair Mist. If you’re like me and wash your hair once or twice a week but also love to sweat in a hot yoga class, this stuff is for you. It makes my hair smell so good and absorbs the oil/sweat too.
- My diffuser and essential oils. I’ve had my diffusers and essential oils for years but stopped using them for some reason and just recently rediscovered them and they 1000% on my mood. What I love about my diffuser is that I can change the scent everyday vs having a candle with a 40 hour burn time. Some of my favorite scents and oil brands are Capri Blue, Aromatique, and Chesapeake Bay. I always stock up on them between seasons when you can often find them at 50% off at Dillards, Yankee Candle, and Anthropologie.
- Slow release caffeine pills. I’m not sure how I have only just discovered slow release caffeine pills but they are so much better than regular caffeine pills. I usually don’t like to drink my calories, which is why I am not a huge coffee or energy drinker, and usually take a caffeine pill in the morning but I always felt like I would crash in the afternoon because the caffeine has worn off by then. The slow release pills give you small doses throughout the day so I no longer crash and don’t have a hard time falling asleep.
As we go into the second half of the year and life starts to pick back up from the summer, I hope you still take the time to stop and smell the roses and enjoy the mundane moments that life offers. Enjoy the August 2023 backgrounds and wallpapers and have an incredible month!
